Our Story

De'Vonna Pittman is the founder of Nature's Syrup Beauty, a plant-based hair and skincare brand built to reconnect people with the healing power of the earth through ancestral wisdom, what she calls Black Apothecaryism. What started as a kitchen experiment, formulating products by hand to restore trust in hair care, has grown into a movement that embraces culture and redefines beauty standards. De'Vonna is dedicated to restoring the love of the hair that grows out of our heads, in the state it grows: curly, kinky, and everything in between.

A self-starter and former political candidate, she turned a personal passion into a thriving business, earning recognition as the 2024 SBA Women in Business Champion of the Year for her leadership and advocacy. Raised in Ford Heights, Illinois, once named the poorest suburb in America, she defied expectations, earning a master's degree in Police Leadership before carving her own path as a beauty industry trailblazer.
